Activity sampling as part of the Continuous Improvement Process (CIP)

Activity sampling as part of the Continuous Improvement Process (CIP)

A continuous improvement process (CIP) is characterised by a constant review and optimisation of quality in all areas of a company - services, products and last but not least processes. Many small improvements can help to increase the success of the company.

For a company to be successful in the marketplace, further development and continuous improvement and optimisation are fundamental. It is a Herculean task to meet the changing customer requirements by constant optimization and to go with them. The problem with a CIP is the review of the measures taken. Here, a work sampling study in self administration based on the latest technologies (cloud, BYOD, web technologies, ...) makes it possible to close the gap and to quickly and easily check the measures implemented.

simple and quick examination of taken measures

Within an iterative and multi-stage PDCA cycle, the effectiveness and efficiency of initiated or already established optimization measures can be checked quickly and easily within a few days with the help of a work sampling study:

  1. Enter actual conditions in the project manager
  2. Initiate / implement optimization measures
  3. Duplicate and repeat previous study
  4. Direct result comparisons visible in the tool

It is precisely the ability of the system to repeat a study with very little effort and to compare the results of the individual measurements that makes it an indispensable tool in such a process.

Work sampling in combination with the modern multidimensional approach of makes it possible to check the measures within a few days with a relatively small core team. The biggest advantages are mainly:

  • through self-observation, the employee himself reflects on his activities and processes and determines what he actually spends his day with
  • No further aids are needed or have to be purchased - with the systems already existing anyway, the implementation is possible.
  • The effort for the employees to onboard or to participate in the study is very low ... and it becomes easier with each time.
  • ...

Activity sampling with makes it possible to get an insight view about one's own processes in a short time. The described procedure can be used, regardless of industry and company size, to verify an estimate or to gain new insights. This way it is possible to achieve great advantages in a short time with very small effort.
